Kangnam BBQ Sports Bar & Grill Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

  • April A.

We ordered an assortment of meats for the grill and a order of spicy rice-cakes. The meats appeared to have been frozen and then thawed, not fresh. The order of rice-cakes was a good size, but what happened to spicy? There was no level of spiciness at all, not even a little. That was definitely disappointing since I was looking forward to it the most. The place was also empty for dinner on a weekday. We weren't sure if we came in as they were closing or not. The food here is overpriced for the quality served. There's other Korean BBQ restaurants available in the area that's worth a visit, this is not it.

I used to be a very frequent guest of Kangnam; the location is close to the University of MD, College Park where I am currently employed. It's fairly priced and the food was okay. The biggest complaint I have about the venue is the staff. After work, I was happily eating with a group of friends (4 of us) until I suddenly felt nauseous. REALLY nauseous. I didn't have anything else to eat that day. I ended up throwing up at the venue (sorry for details) and for the next few days following... The manager on duty was VERY professional. These two stars are 'awarded' ONLY because of him. He apologized on behalf of the restaurant and offered to cover any of the medical expenses. I was sick in bed for 3 days doing nothing but puking. The worst part? After I returned from puking up my life, I heard the staff speaking about me in Korean. Instead of asking if I needed a water, or 'if i was okay,' they proceeded to talk SH*T about me in KOREAN. "She just threw up, and shes eating again." "You should ask her to leave, what kind of person does that?" "F*cking cheap, sh*tty people. I'm going to get the manager" Please let me clarify.. I was NOT eating again. I had some soup and water to get the VOMIT taste out of my mouth. I couldn't stop sweating, and the feeling was not going away. Instead of asking about my condition, you chose to talk sh*t within ear shot of our table. MY OWN WAITER. I am fluent in Korean, so I UNDERSTOOD EVERY SINGLE WORD YOU GUYS SAID. NEVER assume that someone around you doesn't speak your native tongue. Can't say that I'll be back anytime soon. What a shame. I recommend Seoulia if you'd like a great Korean bbq joint.

I had been anticipating the opening of Kangnam for SO long! My friends and I are huge Korean BBQ fans, so we were all excited to not have to drive to Rockville or Annandale to get our fix. I would not say Kangnam offers the BEST quality meat of them all, it still does the job and offers a lot. I decided to have 20 of my friends here for my birthday dinner, and they accommodated us all so well, especially on such short notice! They have plenty of seating for a party even larger than 20. I don't see waiting for a table ever being a problem at Kangnam. When you first sit down, you get a card so you can tell them how much meat you want of a certain cut. Kangnam offers all the meat you want, but they have a weird rule about how you have to pay for the leftover meat you don't eat. When we asked the waitress about it, it seemed like that was just to prevent people from ordering an absurd amount and wasting it all--if you leave a little bit of meat I'm sure you'll be fine. In addition to other rules they have set up, a standard one in Korean BBQ restaurants in that EVERYONE at the table has to buy into the all-you-can eat deal! Two of my friends were vegetarians, and they didn't force my friends to buy meat. Praise!!! In addition to the Korean BBQ, there is also a buffet with typical side dishes, noodle soups, and sushi even! I was so full I did not get a chance to check out the sushi bar. I am excited to come back here, but I'll be sure to come during one of the specials they always seem to be posting about on their Facebook page. I saw that their domestic beers were only $2.50, which is cheaper than most other bars in College Park. Don't forget about the 10% off student discount too!

Very limited buffet menu, only chicken and pork included in the $22 price and any beef choices are at least a $2 up charge. Sides were pretty bland and was not fresh. Their sauces are pretty good though. Server deliberately takes a long time with the food and grilling so they can kick you out in 1.5 hours. We stayed for hour and a half with the server cooking one pork belly, one grilled chicken, two orders of short rib ($13 up charge).. Sad to say that I will not return again.

I'm excited to see a Korean BBQ place open in College Park, but I question how well this location will do for a couple of reasons: 1. The portions for the price were a lot smaller than I had anticipated. For example, I ordered the pork belly and it was only 4 strips of pork belly. You definitely get more meat at Honey Pig. 2. I don't know if college students around College Park know how Korean BBQ works. I also don't know if college students can afford the prices at this place. The pork belly was about $20 and the Tteokbokki was about $25. This is a steep meal for College Park. I always want to see Asian restaurants succeed so I hope this place works, but I worry about their prices and portion sizes.

Weak! We visited this place for the second time for a late night dinner. We got here around 1040pm~. The ayce was over but they were still offering it. My fiancé was thinking about ordering the ayce but once I looked at the menu they had literally no beef/good meats on there. They had all pork dishes and two chicken dishes.. Anything with beef would be at least a 2$ up charge per order. So.. I'm trying to not eat so much pork so I didn't want the ayce. Instead we ordered two orders of beef brisket (10 oz they wrote) 20$ each and a yu kae jjang 10$. So the server - who was really nice- said there was some mix up with the cook and the soup would take a while... Well okay. So we eat our beef.... For some odd reason plain beef brisket is.. PLAIN but it was extra plain? Somehow? I asked my fiancé if his was extra plain and he said yes lol I don't get it but that's how we felt.. I drenched mine in the sauce but it didn't help much unless I dripped my wrap in the soy bean sauce. Yes, sodium overload but whatever I was so hungry! None of the banchans were good. Potato salad tasted like mashed up potatoes. Jap chae noodles were hard cause they were cold. Everything was brought to us from the buffet line. Which I get but if I'm paying an a la carte price for the meal at least pretend I'm getting fresher sides and stuff. Anyways.. We ate for like an hour.. Ate waited chatted whatever. Then the fiancé decided to cancel the yu kae jjang order. It took them close to an hour to fix up the soup? I'm sure they weren't expecting to sell any soup and that was why it took so long but a whole hour? This other table who walked in right after us got their soups as we were leaving.... Smh. Good thing we ordered two orders of meat! Well, service was fine. He got us everything we wanted and asked for. I felt bad when we canceled the soup cause it was not his fault at all. None of it was his fault. I think the mgmt is deliberately skimping out on a lot of things. We would have loved for this place to be good because it's near my house. Instead were sad that and we don't want to come back. Reminder to self: I don't want to go back!!!

Been here a few times now, and overall quite pleased. Good service in general, and the food is pretty good. One time I was there and they spent a good half hour trying to find the channel I needed to watch my basketball game! They couldn't find it because the timing was off, but I appreciate them trying to find it! Props on good naengmyun, especially for this time of year! The bbq is pretty good, albeit slightly on the expensive side. I think it's definitely a step up from the places up the road in beltsville.

The extent of my experience with Korean BBQ, until recently, has been limited to YeChon & Honey Pig in Annandale, VA. My husband and I have recently decided to branch out for two reasons: 1. Variety and 2. We live quite a ways from Annandale so we wanted something closer. Since we live near College Park, it only seemed right that we checked out Kangnam BBQ first. We went on a Sunday after right after church around 11:30. The place was empty, but several more tables tricked in while my husband and I were eating. AMBIANCE: it is what you'd expect at a sports bar - TVs, a full bar, and tons of space. Great for groups and large parties. It's covered with corrugated steel and the cooking hoods are exposed, very similar to Honey Pig. Since it was a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't noisy at all but I imagine it can get that way. Not that I'd mind that. MENU: Surprisingly diverse. They actually open for breakfast at 7 and start serving the full menu at 10:30. My husband and I normally go for Korean BBQ and the accompanying banchan so that is what we ordered (Pork Belly & Beef Brisket). For this, there are two options: you could buy each meat a la carte or get the buffet (which includes banchan, as well as meats). Once I'm no longer pregnant, I'll go back and try the buffet but in all honesty the a la carte portion of Beef Brisket we were given was enormous. Great prices for (what I feel) is a huge portion. SERVICE: We came in and were seated almost immediately. Our server, Hannah, was kind enough to expound on the menu and answer any questions my husband and I had. Not to mention, she was fast and attentive even after getting a few more tables. Our tea & banchan stayed filled. She cooked the mean just right for us. btw, what is that lusciously sweet drink that is served at the end of the meal?! I must have that at home. TL:DR - Great food, great prices, great service. Will be back.

Got a 50% off deal from Groupon and was rejected to use it. The lady at the casher said the deal was only for dine-in, although there was no written limitation on the Groupon site. She said it was 'a convention for any restaurants' which I thought was BS. I complained they never stated that on the coupon. She literally answered "if you are trying to convince me, I will accept it. But the coupon is dine-in only." It was shocking because the one who was trying to convince was not me but her. It was a real kind of uncomfortable attitude. In addition to that she said "do what you want", which sounded like 'get out.' I still have no idea why she was so passive aggressive to accept the coupon. It was obviously their fault not to state the coupon was only for dine-in. Also they seemed to have no will to solve the situation with a positive manner. BTW, this place is a two-star restaurant if I only consider food.

Tasty food and way cooler looking inside than I expected before going in! We had a really nice experience there. One thing that might be different than other Korean BBQ places is that your server/cook will grill all your food for you right at your table. Our server was really nice and fun to chat with while she cooked us a ton of meat. :)

Before March of 2013, I had no idea what Korean BBQ was. KBBQ was more foreign to me than the ancient art of 'working out'. That being said, the past 2 years have been quite a wild ride, in which I've expanded my palatial palette, and my niche knowledge for things like KBBQ by 500 percent. Since then I've gone to: Lighthouse Tofu & BBQ Iron Age Gah Ram Honey Pig and I feel like I'm forgetting one more, but I can't place it right now **some of those restaurants- several times. So I feel like I have a moderate grasp on the subject. So, it's with pleasure that I give Kangnam 5 stars. And I'll tell you exactly why I have done so. 1. Price: I paid 18.95 before tax, and was able to choose from a selection of 6 different meats. I wasn't thrilled that there was an up charge for galbi or some more expensive choices, but I also think I was perfectly happy with the meat selection amongst the 6 I could order without the up charge. I left Honeypig with a 42 dollar tab the one time I went, I don't feel like it was an outrageous amount of food. 2. Buffet: Kangnam has a buffet of banchan, where you can also choose sauces, accoutrement, and vegetables to grill. There are lettuce leafs on the buffet which I really appreciate. I was up charged for lettuce at Lighthouse Tofu once cause the waitress said that it was outside of banchan ( which I think was ridiculous). All of the items seem to be fresh. The buffet in monitored regularly. 3. Service: Though I prefer cooking my own food on the grill, the server was happy to do it for me without question. I also at one point mentioned that he could leave, and he was fine doing so. He came regularly and checked on us. He was polite, and certainly earned his 20 percent. 4. Meats: Meats were plentiful and fresh. We got three different spicy meats. The spicy pork bulgogi was on point. Reminding me of one of my favorite pork bulgogi experiences at HRD Coffee Shop in San Fran ( yelp.com/biz/hrd-coffee-… ). The chicken was good... nothing super special. But the spicy bacon was CLUTCH! 5. Atmosphere: Not super loud KPOP playing, I could definitely have a conversation ( unlike Iron Age). There was xmas music playing on the loud speaker and though when we came in, it was at an outrageous volume, the server once he noticed turned it down to a conversation volume immediately. 6. Extras: Unique Asian alcohol I need to try when I'm there next time. Bright colors make the place cheery. I love how they gave us a pitcher of water and 2 cups off the bat. The owner was very kind to us on the way out. They have beer on tap, they have sports playing if you're into that. All around, I can't wait for my next visit.

Pleasantly surprised with the food. The beef bulgogi and spicy pork rice entrees were delicious!

I should have took my fellow reviewers reviews. This place is all around bad!! Where do I begin, unless you order one of there bbq combos the portions are small. My girlfriend and I ordered what we thought were dumplings to find they are stuffed with some sort of veggie paste. Next we ordered some buffalo wings which were alright if not they weren't FROZEN on the inside we did receive another order. The service was the worse!! When we did get service and the server cooked our food they left the burner on high so our food became burnt!! At the end of the day I will not and do not recommend anyone to go to this place!!!

Came here when it opened back in November or December can't remember and the lunch buffet was very good with an excellent selection of side dishes and other things at the buffet. Also the meat itself was OK, nothing amazing but still ok. Came back in Jan or Feb and apparently the management changed and this place is terrible now. They took almost half of the side dishes including the ones I really enjoyed and they also took out the small entrees. Place is expensive for what you get and I definitely will not be returning.

Ordered galbi, naengmyun, and sushi. Everything tasted pretty good but the food handling was not quite right. The waitress cut the galbi with scissors and used the same scissors for the naengmyun. Yuck. Also similar to some of the other reviews, it would be nice if the waitress wrote down the order. She forgot part of our order, but she was very nice.

I don't recommend the restaurant, especially if you are a Chinese, they would not treat you very well. We are not lucky that we got the worst waiter, he is quiet and the slowest. He used an hour the grill our 3 dishes. And the portion of their meat is the way too small. Totally not worth it to spend $23 for buffet here. And short ribs are not fresh. Think about it before you go there. BTW, avoid the waiter in green tshirt with glasses.

Went here for lunch with a friend to test out their lunch buffet. The quality of meat isn't the best, but there are several choices to choose from. The BBQ lunch buffet doesn't limit you to just korean BBQ, you are able to go to the regular buffet and eat the food there as well allowing one to have an assortment of food to choose from which is nice. We didn't have to cook our own food, there was someone there who made sure our food was well prepared. The regular buffet had a lot to choose from, even though I was pretty full from the korean BBQ. I made an effort to try a little bit from the regular buffet. The food here is mediocre but for the price, it is decent. I would come back here with friends for a meal and good conversation.

The food was good. Chicken was somewhat bland... I liked how the side dishes were out buffet style cause I love my kimchi! They have a spicy mayo that is awesome for pork belly. I came in and it was pretty empty around 3pm. I like that though cause it made service nice and quick. BTW Ken was awesome! He was very attentive and helpful. Overall a good experience I'll be sure to come back.

I didn't know Korean BBQ was this much great. My friends organized a surprise birthday party for me at this place and everything was great, we were around 20 people and and we were nicely accommodated, service was prompt, food was great, no disappointment. They have an interesting selection of Asian alcohol (or maybe not that much interesting, since I don't really know much about Asian food and drink, it seemed interesting to me), but who cares? I liked them. One thing I can say is that having the barbecue cooked on your table needs a bit better air conditioning system, it was so hot!

This place is the worst kbbq I've ever visited. I were here when it was pre-open. Was expensive and the food was poor in both quantity and quality. I felt I paid the price of honey pig and got nothing comparable to any descent bbq. I told myself never come back again. Today I thought I would give it a second chance, as it is now officially open. I found that the so called all you can eat bbq, which ask for 22+ per person is only limited to cheap chicken and pork. You still need to pay extra 2 or 5 dollars per order of you want to have beef or short rib... Finally we end up ordering stew and other things. Without surprise, the quality is very bad. I have given up on this place. Hope it can be replaced by another restaurant soon.

Been here a couple of times, food is standard not the best Korean BBQ place in the world but it's a good place to come and have a good time with a couple of people. Seafood pancake is good though. The servers are pretty chill and nice.

korean bbq and sports bar and grill is a weird combination. It's on route 1 and it's near a college town so maybe I do not fault them but certainly not a typical korean BBQ experience. I had the buffet here with my brother and the side items that you normally get, kimchi, soups, etc are buffet style so you can get up and pick and chose what you want from the little side dishes offered. This was fine and they tasted average. No complaints. The buffet menu was 'ok' in selection and in order to get beef there was uncharge over their 'pork' counterparts. Going with only two people getting the buffet probably wasn't the best idea as we could only experience 3 of the meat selections before throwing in the towel. My brother and I were scared into stopping our food intake because this was also the first korean bbq that we've been to which stated left over meat would be weighed and charged against the table. There wasn't any thing mind blowing about the quality of the meat nor was there an option for 'tasty' korean bbq sauce as my brother calls it. If you've been to honey pig, or iron age, or Oegadgib (as examples) there is the one sauce that is super tasty that you can dip meat into. At Kangnam and even Gah Ram (see my other yelp review) the sauce selection seems lacking. The meat marinade is important but the sauce also elevates the taste and experience for the palette, in my opinion. The waiter seemed nice and I don't have an complaints about the service. 2/5 , if u have a craving for korean bbq in college park, go. U won't die. But it's not even in my top 10 list of korean BBQs in the DMV area, and i think i've only gone to about 7 places so far.

Food was good but lacks management. There is no team work among the staffer which is causing service delays. Advice to management - take care of your experienced staff members so that they could properly train the inexperienced staff.

There are a number of detailed reviews about this place so I will just highlight all things that you need to know about this place. * just like 99% of Korean restaurants, Kangnam has an all-you-can-eat BBQ section of the menu. you don't have to indulge in AYCE selections, but you would be a fool not to partake. * unlike most Korean restaurants, Kangnam offers a buffet AYCE of a variety of meats. * while this is not the *best* Korean BBQ that I have sampled in my lifetime, it is more than satisfactory in taste and quality. * they have something that 99% of Korean restaurants do not have - craft beers on tap!! * they also have an abundant selection of soju!! * this is a "sports" bar, so you will not have to be assaulted by a barrage of K-pop music videos as you stuff your face with AYCE BBQ. however, you will be surrounded by tv screens of flying balls and stadiums of screaming fans (which will either be a plus or a minus depending on your inclinations to sports). as for my own personal inclinations, I'll just say - cartwheels!! \0/ \___ | | /\ /0\

Ordered a seafood pancake with friends last night there. We did not finish the whole pancake and brought it home. The next when we heat it up for the lunch, we found paper tissues inside the pancake. It's definitely not turning my appetite on!

Enjoyed my first experience! Ordered Beef Bulgogi and beef brisket and was enough for two people. The fix-ins were tasty and included dried spicy squid. Also got hot tea--served in a nicely decorated tea cup. The ice water pitcher was also cute. Atmosphere is hip and contemporary. The servers seem to be college students and very courteous/ attentive. The restaurant was a bit cold in the evening. Other than that, would go again!

So me and my partner-in-crime came here after grabbing a groupon. While my experience with Korean food does not extend much outside of Bbq and ban chon I feel that Kangnam leaves a bit to be desired in the bon chon area but the marinades were pretty good, not amazing but above solid for sure! We chose the all you can eat choice and were a bit disappointed by the fact that no beef options were included for the price point of 22.99 per person. However, the spicy chicken was good, spicy pork belly and spicy pork bulgogi were our faves really tasty. The serve your self bon chon bar was a different story. very limited options, basic things weren't refilled (like lettuce leaves, c'mon people, wash dry and place on bar). They had a veggie pancake that was pretty yum after I popped it on the grill, but overall it was meager pickings. I'm hoping it was just an off day. Our server was great with cooking our meats and knew when to let us fly on our own as well. I'll definitely give them another shot.

A Korean BBQ join that delivers to me. YES PLEASE. A little backstory: I love Korean BBQ. My husband didn't until I converted him with some of the lovely stuff in Annandale. However, I rather drive to Northern VA, or Rockville, or Gaithersburg or anywhere else with good Korean restaurants. I have also said in previous reviews that the delivery options where I live are pretty much terrible. I used to love the Chinese restaurant that occupied this building, but I am now even more happier that this place is here now. First time trying them, we ordered a large variety of Korean and bar foods for a little Oscars party at my place. The bar food was good. Nothing disappointed us. The wings were crispy (and while not anything like other Korean fried chicken places they still were decent and reasonably priced). My husband loved the crab balls. They even had jalapeno poppers which were pretty good and also not horrendously priced. Spicy pork was delicious (I'll get back to that soon) and my husband loved the salmon. It was a glorious meal. They also threw in some various banchan which was nice, but it was random and some of it weren't things I cared for. A few weeks ago we were driving out to Laurel for a movie and got stuck in traffic. The idea was sprung that maybe we eat here for dinner since my birthday was the next day and we were about to get snowed in. I got nervous when there weren't many people there, but the place filled up quickly. I was disappointed in the idea of the buffet. It was very basic banchan dishes. Nothing like the other AYCE places in the region. At least none that I've been to. That's ok, though. We were there for meat sweats. And they delivered. My favorite things? Spicy pork bulgogi. Great amount of heat, but not overbearing. Tender, great flavor. Spicy pork belly was awesome too. I love pork belly and was even happier that they had the spicy variety. We are spicy people so of course, we had to try the spicy chicken. There are some things that you have to spend extra for. I understand. It's hard to keep a profit when a customer could have unlimited orders of some of the beef cuts. We decided to try one each time and had the basic beef bulgogi. I wasn't impressed by this, but my husband loved it. The waitress was very professional and did not have an attitude at all about preparing and serving unlike some of the other places in Northern VA. Next time I go, I want to try the hot pots. Several tables had it while we were there and it looked fantastic. It'll be nice to see how this place does.

It only worth two stars because the waiter is friendly but sometimes too overwhelming. In all these two stars are for our waiter .we ordered pu dei ji ge , which should be really yummy and full of Vegie and meat in it , well , never get this disappointment on a Korean food! The steam dumpling sucks too.... And the ji ge with this little stuff in it cost about thirty five dollars ! Maybe the pu gu gi s are fine but don't order the pu dei ji ge and the dumpling! You will regret like I did now

Really good Korean bbq! I got a discount from groupon, so even better! Was skeptical at first cos there were some bad reviews, but I'm glad we ate here! I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars cos of the ambience..that could be better.

I have been to Kangnam BBQ for dinner on 5 occasions now, and it seems like it has been getting better and better. The food has always delicious and fresh, and the BBQ portions are also pretty good sized. I really enjoy the sesame oil and red chili paste they provide with the entrees, they both really go well with the other BBQ flavors. Having the BBQ cooked right at your table is a really interesting experience, I also really appreciate the late night hours, and that a full BBQ menu is available, this really makes this place a really great addition to the College Park restaurant scene. There have been a few rough spots with the table side service, but nothing that would't be expected for a new restaurant or enough to deduct a star. I expect that they will continue to get better as the wait staff and management gain more experience. I do wish the menu had better descriptions of the food items, and preparation styles, as I am a Korean BBQ rookie, and the menu is pretty confusing. I am also puzzled by the front bar area, it does not seem like it is properly designed for grabbing a quick drink and/or bite to eat while watching a game, it seems more like it is just the waiting area for the restaurant when they are full, and it is also serving double duty as the host stand and carry out desk. I would be really happy if they changed around the entire front area and made it more like a traditional bar. Something with a traditional bar, bartender, bar stools and high top tables would be great. Also having a special bar menu with small plates, and quicker menu items would attract people that might not have time for a full sit down BBQ meal. As of now I would not even consider this a bar, it is purely a restaurant.

Don't come to this restaurant. We found a fly in the soup. Yes, a FLY. And we called the waitress she said like "oh my god I'm so sorry. I'll take this to the manager so she knows the thing and I'll let her come talk to you." Then she took our bowls and have another waitress take a look at it and she said "oh this is so disgusting." After a few minutes our waitress came and said the manager was a little bit busy and asked if we want our check first. We said no we need to talk to the manager. Then we waited for another 5 minutes or so the manager still didn't come. The waitress brought the check to us and said the manager said she would give us 20% off. That's it. What is that attitude? Shouldn't she at least come and say sorry to us? It's really not about money and everyone knows that's disguising but that was just how they wanted to solve this problem. We will really never come to this place at all.

Bought a Groupon for this place. Got the pork belly BBQ and the Kalbi BBQ. While the pork belly was good, I believe we got jipped on the Kalbi. I kept tasting it and it didn't seem right. It wasn't tough but it wasn't the meat flavor that of short rib. I think we got a cut of the ribeye they use for bulgogi. For paying $30, we got ripped off. My wife got the Kalbi bibimbap and I compared the beef and it confirmed my suspicions. Didn't feel like complaining at that point as a decent portion was already eaten. Ain't going back though.

I was overjoyed when my bestie told me that there was an all you can eat Korean BBQ place in College Park, Maryland. Normally, areas like Annandale, Va and even Rockville, MD has all the tasty Korean-style hot spots. I wish I read all of the Yelp reviews ahead of time though, because if I did, I would've told my friends to go elsewhere. It's great that the meat is all you can eat but the steep price of $22 does not fit the portions, side dishes or even the dessert you get. The side dishes offered were subpar and minimal at best. I had no idea where to get rice for my lettuce and had a hard time finding much needed utensils. The waitress was nice, albeit, knew minimal English and had a hard time comprehending our orders. I didn't expect my dining experience to be full of mazes and puzzles throughout the night. On top of that, two of my friends didn't order anything but they were forced into paying the buffet price just because they sat at our table. I was also getting more annoyed with this restaurant for their mismanagement. I also would've forgiven all of these plights if the food met my expectations. It really did not. The reason I am giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 star is because the waitress was really nice and because it's cool to see cutout images of popular Korean Pop Stars taped all across the room.

Did not know what to expect but, decide to give the new place a chance. The service and food were good. Like the food was cooked in the center of the table. Would have been nice to have a cocktail with dinner, but could only have beer due to that was the license they had. Knowing how the College Park government works (against places that sell alcohol), I was surprised they allowed them a license to sell beer.

It's a very nice Korean fusion restaurant. It's really not expensive and for college park this is the best that you can get!

when we entered the front building the atmosphere looked really clean. We had to sit at the bar cause there was a waiting list but it was okay cause they seemed very busy. While we were sitting at the bar. There was a creepy Asian man sitting at the bar and kept glaring at us. We felt uncomfortable and just left.

Update 11/23 - I saw the banners for BBQ and Sushi buffet, and had to give it a try. No trouble parking at 2PM on Sunday. The buffets are sorta separate: you can get one or the other or for a small upcharge, both. Pricing varies with time and weekday/weekend, see photo of menu. My Sunday brunch BBQ was 18.95++. I took a peek at the sushi layout and decided to skip it, as there were only four varieties of nigiri and as readers of my reviews know, I do not dream of maki. The BBQ meats are not on the buffet, but there are plenty of sides and condiments and veggies you can add to the grill. You check off the order on a slip (much like ordering sushi a la carte) and the server brings them and cooks them on the table top grill. I must note that some of the fancier cuts, such as short ribs (gal bi) have an added charge per serving. Even dodging that, I got a good variety. Spicy pork bulgogi, nom nom. Beef brisket, thin sliced and tender, needed a sauce dip. Pork ribs on the bone, juicy and tender but way different from good old American smoked ribs with molasses based sauce. Needed more napkins!. Plain pork belly was cut twice as thick as most places (and US bacon), which gave it a velvety texture. The absolute star of the meal was the spicy bacon, also thick cut, with a very complex marinade and just enough heat. I was sorry I had not left room for a double order! Tiny glitches: if your server is busy cooking someone else's meat when you finish a round, there may be a short delay before you can order the next. Emphasize short, my server really had it together. And those pork ribs really call for an extra few napkins! Summing up: happiness and postprandial torpor. Update for visit during the GO: The staff has gotten their act a lot more together. Diverse clientele, Asians and round eyes. Asked the server for the WiFi password and it worked fine. Noted that the breakfast specials include hangover soup (haejangguk) ;) I had the kimchi jigae, a classic right on point with just the proper bit of scalp sweat. More pork slices included than most I have had. $10, left full and happy. I really want to come with a group so we can order one of the BBQ platters. No problem parking when I arrived at 4 PM, but by the time I left cars were circling like vultures. 4.5 stars. Preliminary report for lunch at the soft opening - Grand Opening expected in late October. I got the $7 lunch special, pork bulgogi. Nice and tender, but not as spicy as the waitress warned. They happily brought me some gochujang and the result was delicious. Good banchan, excellent kimchi with spot on texture and balanced seasoning. The space is broken up into four areas, same as it was for the previous occupant. Dark wood, busy wallpaper, fairly loud music of various genres, trendy exposed duct work in the ceiling. The tables, mostly 4-tops, are set up for KBBQ with a burner built in and a hood over each. Good selection of Asian beers (only place I've seen that stocks all the Korean brews: Hite, Cass, and my favorite OB), soju, and sakes. A sushi poster by the back service counter suggests an additional section may be on the menu. Staff was friendly, but seemed to still be working on their English, so I counsel patience and perhaps a translator app. Be warned that parking is sparse, carpooling suggested if you don't live on campus or in one of the new apartment buildings nearby. So far, so good. Time will tell if they can earn the coveted fifth star. Newspaper articles say they will be a 24/7 operation - bet the K-Terps will be all over that!

I like the service. And it caters to my inner hipster (craft beer on tap). The beef bulgogi is the best thing on the menu. And the buffet is pretty damn good. No, it's not the best Korean bbq ever. But the place is clean, convenient, and the buffet is a great value.

The bbq is average but overpriced. I've gone here twice; The second time I went was for the buffet. I was pretty disappointed with the buffet. They were out of one meat and the buffet side dish options were really poor (mostly radish/cabbage vegetables). A few of them were empty and not refilled the entire time we were there. And the rice pot was scraped to the bottom. I'm definitely never going back for the buffet option. With the prices they have, I'd much rather drive out farther from College Park and get better korean bbq and a better experience. As for the non-buffet, it was more pleasant. I went during the grand opening so they had a lot of special discounts. Not sure if I'd come back with the regular menu prices.

Second time I ate here with different people and wanted to make sure the first time was not a fluke. This place is excellent! Both times we ordered the Oriole BBQ. It is for 2-3 people but I believe even 4 people would be enough. The food is top notch. The pork belly's are extremely good, the chicken very good, but my favorite is the beef! The sauce that comes with is has an excellent bite and the sweet one is also tasty. Plus, enough sides that you don't have to order appetizers, but I have to try some. The staff is awesome, cook the meal, and will tell you anything you ask about what you are eating. All around a fantastic lunch both times I have been there and even though the place was crowded, we still had great service!

Reviews within the last two weeks should be taken with a grain of salt since this place just opened up two weeks ago. As with most places, just starting off can be a little bumpy due to newly trained staff. The service during our lunch, today, was prompt and efficient. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the selections. The food quality seems to be on par with other Korean BBQ joints like Honey Pig but with fewer selections. They do offer some mainstays though, like BiBimBop, which aren't on the menu. Seafood pancakes, neng myun, panchan, we're all very good. Lunch specials were decent but I suspect if we had more time to actually grill at the table, the quality would have been very good. I will definitely be back in the evening for the grills and soju. The atmosphere was very similar with Honey Pig but seemed less cramped. I am glad to have a new Korean BBQ place in College Park and hope they stay for a while.

Had the dinner buffet for the second time today and was quite disappointed. We were hoping to try the sushi buffet that we saw on their facebook page, and we drove all the way there just to find out they didn't have sushi anymore. They should have updated the Facebook page and let their customers know that. For the bbq, we asked for spicy pork ribs and they didn't even have it. The food tasted good, but honestly not worth $22 at all.

The entire experience was really bad (I'm being generous with two stars since I see some potential). I go to Korean BBQ at least once a week (usually in Annandale), so I feel like I have a decent frame of reference. Here's a brief summary of what went wrong (a lot) and what went right (very little). * Went mid-afternoon on a Sunday, so there were only a few other tables. Seated promptly, then waited over 10 minutes for anyone to take our order/offer drinks. In fact, no one ever offered. We were finally able to flag someone down. If it were Saturday night and the place were packed it would be understandable, but there were literally only like 5 people eating. * Placed our order (three different meats). Waiter shows up two minutes later because he already forgot what we ordered. Pen/paper is fairly inexpensive and highly recommended. * The waiter seemed really inexperienced. He did a major (major) no no when cooking the meat. He first cooked the ribs (good call!). When the ribs were almost done he added the raw chicken to the grill. He then proceeded to let the raw chicken touch the cooked ribs and used the same tongs to handle both. He later did the same thing with pork. This is how cross contamination happens and most Korean restaurants go to great lengths to avoid it. * Rice is served in a normal kitchen bowl (like you would have at home) instead of individual containers. It did not seem fresh. * There were several staff members who didn't seem to know what they were doing. Several were just texting the entire time we were there (very frustrating when trying to get attention). * Asked the waiter to get us some more water. He of course never brought it. * Korean's do appetizers really well. This place presents itself as a "sports bar" so you would think they would have some small plates (mandu!!!). Strangely, they have none on the menu. That's pretty disappointing. * The meats were all...just okay. And that's disappointing considering the price. The ribs were fatty, the chicken was flavorless and the spicy pork was lacking the spice part. * The men's room was really clean (like the rest of the restaurant), but the door handle fell off when I grabbed it. It hit the floor and the staff just looked at me, looked at the knob on the ground, then just looked away and kept texting. Amazing. * Had to hunt someone down to give us the check. Once they took our card they disappeared for a good 5 minutes (maybe they were all busy fixing the bathroom handle?). * Big shout out to the Korean lady in the back who was very helpful and mortified by the cross contamination. She said they have a lot to work on...I would agree. In short...it's expensive for the quantity/quality you get and service is woefully inadequate. It has potential, but I'll go somewhere else.

UPDATE: The manager was kind enough to respond and take action on my concerns. I haven't been back to the restaurant yet, but I appreciated their response. Customer service goes a long way and for that it warrants a star up. *This review was based on their soft opening on 10/3. Will go back when things are better organized and re-evaluate.* Like one of the posters below, I was invited to their soft open. Unlike the poster below, I had the exact OPPOSITE experience. I expected it to be chaotic and disorganized as soft opens generally can be, but needless to say, it was NOT a pleasant soft open experience for me. I probably should have waited until the official grand opening. I will break down my review into sections and rate from 1 (being poor) to 5 (excellent): 1. Parking: 1 of 5. Only 10-12 parking spots in the actual restaurant. There is a campus-owned building across the street with about 15 or so spaces where I parked, but was unsure if I was allowed to park there. I asked the management and they didn't know, but stated that they typically parked their cars in that lot with no problem. Still, I was worried if I would be ticketed or worse, towed. Luckily neither occurred. There is an option to park in an abandoned restaurant's lot across the street apparently, but Route 1 can be a pain to cross. Right now there is construction on the residential side street next to the restaurant, which would probably open up a little space for a few more cars. Don't even think about parking near the houses as there are signs EVERYWHERE saying not to park on the street in front of residences. If anything, the parking situation will be a big problem, especially once they open and the weekends get packed. Not sure what arrangements, if any, are made with local businesses to use their parking spots or whether there is an agreement in place with the college building next door. 2. Decor and interior: 4.5 of 5. Very nicely decorated on the inside. Nice ambiance. TVs are plentiful with a variety of sports. Half-point deduction because the music (top 40, catered to the 20 something crowd) was a little too loud. At one point I felt like I was at a nightclub. 3. Service: 1 of 5. Yes, this was a soft open and chaos was expected, HOWEVER, if I make a reservation at 6:30, then I would expect to be seated at latest a few minutes after that time. The manager stated that there were not enough servers. Uh oh! Soft open with limited servers and a growing line of people waiting? Not a good sign. I was not seated until after 7. Most of the servers were clueless and did not know what they were doing. Our server did not know the menu AT ALL. Another no-no. If anything, servers should learn the menu and at the least know more than half of what's on it. Menu items that he told our table were not available, other tables had. He also got an order wrong, but we were too hungry to mention it. I had to track down a manager just to get water, and that took several attempts. I noticed the lack of servers in other sections as there were groups who had never had Korean BBQ before and were waiting for the server to return to flip their meat or put the meat on the grill for them. I saved the table of college guys sitting next to us a severely burnt tray of BBQ and told them that they should flip the meat themselves because their meat was starting to burn. Our table luckily had Korean BBQ experience, and because we were starving, we could not wait for our server, so we grilled the meat ourselves. Not once did our server come over to flip the meat over for us though. 4. Food: 2.5 of 5. The beef was actually pretty decent. Juicy and had flavor, but portions were small. Our table ordered sam gyup sal (pork belly), juhmullok (prime rib steak tips) and galbi (beef strips). The dumplings that came out were way overcooked. The pajun (seafood pancake) was too tough and doughy and tasted like it was cooked hours ago and just put in a microwave to warm up. Apparently there was supposed to be free salad, but our table never got it. There is an individual serving of whipped egg (can't describe what this is exactly, sorry) that comes out to the table. Individual serving is a great idea, but not when it comes out cold and tastes several hours old. Lettuce? Apparently it's not included and you have to ask for it. Same with the samjang (bean paste) which is standard dressing for Korean BBQ. The servers didn't even know what that was, which appalled me. They had A-1 BBQ sauce, ketchup, and hot sauce at the table, which is strange for a Korean BBQ restaurant. I asked our server several times for lettuce which never came, but I did end up getting the samjang... Near the end of our meal... Still not sure if sides were an extra option or if it was supposed to come out and our server didn't give it to us. It is customary at other Korean BBQ places that some sides come out.

We dropped in for apps and beer on the way to a show. Service was slow-ish, but polite. The steamed dumplings were forgettable, but the seafood pancake was awesome. It was huge, more than we could finish, and made even better breakfast leftovers the following day!

UPDATED REVIEW: The last time I came to Kangnam BBQ was about 9 months ago and I was in the neighborhood today and decided to give this place another try. Hoping things would be better, it was unfortunately a let down. Keep in mind, as a Korean this is not how it should be. Update on service: It was slow when I came in, so we were seated right away. We had a Korean waitress and it took us 4 times to tell her our order because she kept forgetting.. did not understand why she just didnt write it down. Other than that, service was mediocre. Food Review: My family and I ordered the Dae Gyo Maewoo Tong (spicy cod soup), Kimchi Jigae, and the Dolsot Bibimbap (hot stone bibimbap). The rice that comes with the cod soup and kimchi jigae was cold and tasted old. The spicy cod soup was okay (the cod didn't taste fresh), kimchi jigae was okay as well (found things in it tat was not suppose to be in kimchi jigae), and the dolsot bibimbap was not up to par. I ordered the dolsot bibimbap because I like the crunchy rice bits that form at the bottom of the stone bowl, but the stone bowl was not even hot.. like, if I wanted just a regular bibimbap, I would've just ordered the regular one. All I saw at the bottom of the stone bowl was disappointment. I gave this place another try and wish I hadn't.

Man. I am not even certain where to start here. I will give this restaurant 5 stars for cold beer. The two beers I had while I was waiting for my sushi order for 45 minutes were very cold and the frosty mug made sure they stayed that way. My problem is the host. When I asked him if the sushi bar was open when I walked in he assured me that it was (it was just after 2:30 which is apparently the time the bar closes. This is not noted anywhere on the doors, or inside the restaurant.) The host took my sushi order and got a beer and I proceeded to wait. I was the only customer in this place and I am beginning to understand why. The host that sat me disappeared as did everyone else. I was beginning to get concerned that perhaps the zombie apocalypse had happened and the next thing I would see is a zombie sushi chef coming from the back kitchen. Instead what happened was nothing. The host disappeared with my written down sushi selection and I was left wondering what was going on. Finally when I spotted one of the female waiters I asked her about the status of my sushi order to which she went to confirm with the sushi chef that she was done making sushi for the day. I have been brushed off before but seriously? The female server was apologetic and friendly but at that point i had been accosted by flies for the past 40 minutes and I was running out of lunch break. I cut my losses paid the bill and left. It is not often that I do not leave a tip but the lack of service warrants nothing less and the fact that I was being accosted by flies and my arms were sticking to the table means they have a cleanliness problem. I have worked in many restaurants over the years. Read the signs, cut your losses and find somewhere else to eat. In my case I didn't have time to go to the next closest sushi bar so. I went to taco hell instead. My stomach hates me already but goshdarnit I was hungry. This place has all the despertion "OPEN" signs flashing in the windows and the fact it was a ghost town told me everything I needed to know. I am not saying that Seven Seas was the best American / Chinese restaurant in the College Park but they at least had the service portion of front of house operations down and the sushi chef never blew me off even if it was at the end of sushi service. Not going back here again. I wish them luck.

After a long night, hunger striked and pizza was not an option. Thanks to yelp, we found Kangnam. We ordered the gimbab, chicken bulgogi, steak and cheese w sweet potato fries, and a cheesecake. Our favorites were the gimbab and the steak and cheese. The gimbab was really tasty and has great texture. This will need to be placed on a future order. For $10 we got a large portion. You never know what to expect when ordering a steak and cheese from an Asian restaurant, but the steak and cheese was sooo good. As close to a philly cheese steak that you are going to find for late night delivery. The chicken bulgogi was tasty but missed the mark. The cheesecake came frozen but nothing a few seconds in the microwave couldn't fix. Overall, pretty good place to get some delivery food. I'm not in a huge rush to check out their restaurant, but will definitely be ordering delivery from them again!

A restaurant that will deliver fresh bulgogi to my door? I love living in the future! I've withheld this review of Kangnam until I'd had a few different experiences (dine-in and delivery, BBQ and other menu items) and until they seemed to settle on a coherent identity (the early months included a lot of menu experiments which are reflected in other reviews). If you've been to other local Korean BBQ joints like Honey Pig, the style of Kangnam should be familiar - stove-topped tables with hoods, a little smoky with the scent of meat, pasted with posters for liqueurs with smiling Korean celebrities you don't know. Kangnam (in the space that was Seven Seas for years) has an industrial vibe with exposed metal and concrete. It's also billing itself as a "sports bar," but doesn't have many TVs... and last time, they were showing Jeopardy. I guess that's an academic sport. Kangnam shines on traditional BBQ. Their meats are generally good cuts and well-seasoned, and their servers do a good job cooking everything at the table (as long as you don't have too many people at your table, at which point it's challenging to fit them in there). The banchan is limited but good (lately it's been kimchi, cucumbers, cabbage, and a jelly) and they provide plenty of big lettuce leaves and sauces. I've also enjoyed the bulgogi they've delivered to my house (woohoo!) which comes in amazing compartmentalized takeout containers too cute and useful to toss into the recycling. The rest of the menu has been hit-or-miss. The dumplings have varied from ok to mushy. The spicy rice cake appetizer is bland. The short rib tacos are tasty... but the tortillas are not very soft. Their sushi was mediocre. I haven't bothered with their American dishes because there are plenty of places for that fare in CP. BUT... as long as they keep me supplied with door-to-door bulgogi service, I'm satisfied.

At last, an ayce Korean BBQ opened near my parent's! I waited and waited and finally my brother was home for the holidays for us to visit! We came for Saturday dinner and was surprised at how empty the restaurant was. Perhaps the college kids had left for winter break - it was literally a ghost town at 7pm. Before coming, we were debating whether or not to opt for the sushi and BBQ deal - but once we arrived, we quickly learned that they had gotten rid of the sushi ayce option. Korean BBQ it was! Although it was ayce, the selection of meat was very limited. The options only included pork belly, pork ribs, or chicken. Craving some red meat? $2 additional cost per order. Fortunately, the pork belly and pork ribs were quite tasty! We just stuck to the basics and were satisfied. They had a banchan station with about dozen selection (pigs feet, spicy soba noodles, sweet potato tempura, beef dumplings, various kimchi, etc). Unfortunately, they all looked as if they had been sitting around all afternoon. All the sauces in each dish looked dry and crusty. If not dried out, they were drenched in hot chili oil. We nevertheless still gave each a try. Surprisingly, They weren't actually as bad as they looked! My personal favorites were the spicy fish rice cake and beans sprout! If only they were freshly made. By 8pm, they took away half of the banchan and never cared to bring new ones out. And we thought they were closing... Our server had only two tables to serve but was too busy watching the football game over us. When foods were out, we had to specifically hunt staffs down to beg for more. Not sure how long this establishment is going to last. But with the way it's running, doubt I will have a chance to give it a second try.

Food was good but lacks management. There is no team work among the staffer which is causing service delays. Advice to management - take care of your experienced staff members so that they could properly train the inexperienced staff.

Love this place. The food is great the location is pretty easy to get to. Ample parking and much much much cleaner than honey pig. Nicer tables. More affordable than honey pig and their sushi is really good.

Its new I know, but my waiter didn't even know the menu. I knew more from the info i got online. So I wasen't able to get my bibim bop :[ Should have asked the manager. Anyways, the nonspicy chicken bulogi and pork bulogi were tasty. Side dishes were just ok. A nice lady offered us more. More kimchi? Yes please. I wish our waiter was more familiar with the table top grilling, most of the veggies were undercooked. Great take out and lunch menu. The service inside was a little off so becareful with the takeout. I'm sure they'll get it together soon. $50 got 60oz pitcher and 2 dishes. Enough to feed 3fat asses who left stuffed. A good size selection of Soju and beer. Will be back in a few months after the growing pains are smoothed out.

Ok - so this isn't the GREATEST Korean BBQ but the servers are very good and the overall atmosphere is fun. I've been 5+ times and have never been disappointed. The prices are good and the meats are solid. The upcharge from ayce may seem excessive but it's very fair and the premium cuts are great. As for the bonchon, I'm hopeful they will improve over time. (This is still a new restaurant.) It's hit or miss from visit to visit. But they're always willing to bring something different or more of something you like. Also, I would highly recommend a few items apart from the BBQ. The stews/soups are outstanding. Try the tofu stew or the soybean stew w seafood - great! Also, we just tried the seafood scallion pancakes. Delicious w big chunks of squid and octopus. Also worth noting that beer and wine is very reasonably priced. In general, I always feel I get a lot for my money. I have a feeling the mixed reviews may be from college students on a bit of a budget. But compared to almost any sit down restaurant with alcohol and great service, you can't beat Kangnam in this area.

Decided fairly late in the evening (9 PM) that it was easier to order out than to fix something ourselves. My husband was thinking about a Reuben sandwich, so I checked GrubHub.com , and this place popped up. Ultimately we both wanted a Washingtonian Sandwich (ham, bacon, Swiss & American cheeses, LTM), and then I spotted fresh homemade potato chips on the delivery menu. We both thought the sandwiches were excellent, and the fresh chips were delicious, if not entirely crispy. Very satisfied with food, will order again.

This is the best Korean restaurant in MD area! It's a really nice place to hang out with friends. I really love the Tofu soup there. The BBQ is awesome and also the service there is very nice ! I will definitely come again! BTW, they offer various side dishes which are delicious too!

Wow, I've never come out of a meal so outraged that I was compelled to leave a review. I'm Korean-American and I'm used to authentic Korean restaurants that value good food and good service, but this place is completely devoid of either of these things. I noticed we didn't get all the banchan (side dishes) other tables had so I tried to flag down someone who looked like the owner in a pink shirt to ask him, but he was too busy to talk to me as he was on a mission to get things done for some other family. When I finally got his attention and asked him for more side dishes, he told me I could get it myself because he was too busy. Excuse you, we are paying customers as well. We came here to get served dinner, not serve ourselves. Food was mediocre. Not impressed or the least bit satiated. Left with a bad feeling, so I suggest you avoid this place and not waste your time or money.

Went back to UMD to visit friends and they mentioned this new restaurant. They told me the BBQ isn't so good but I can try other dishes. I wasn't so hungry at the moment. So I only ordered a seafood pancake and tried my friend's bibimbap. Her bibimbap was ok. So was the pancake. I ate half of it and took the rest home. Next day, I microwaved it for lunch. Then I found something else in the pancake. I wasn't so sure until I took it out and spread it out..it's a piece of paper.....it still has some more left in the pancake but I'm not going to touch it again..

There is a bar area when you walk in and the dining room in the back. We came with a group of 10, so the seating was a little awkward. Half of our group sat on one side of the median and the other half sat on the other side. The median was short so it was still pretty easy to share food and talk, but if you wanted to go to the other side, you would have to walk all the way around the restaurant. There is just too much going on in here that it seems like they were not able to perfect anything. So they have bar food (wings, burgers, crab balls), buffet (noodles, soup, dumplings, kim chi), Korean fare (stews, rice dishes, noodle dishes), and Korean BBQ. We opted out of the buffet since nothing there really seemed worth it, which I think was a good idea in the end because they ended up grabbing items from the buffet as the complimentary small dishes. We ordered a seafood pancake, beef brisket, bulgogi, kalbi, pork belly, and kimchi stew. I really enjoyed the seafood pancake because there was a lot of filling in it, had good crispy outside, and was really thick. The meat dishes were just okay... really just grilled meat with no taste so you dip it in sauce afterwards. The person who ordered the kimchi stew said it as horrible. For some reason, they provided us complimentary crab balls and grilled salmon as well. I could have gone without these. The crab balls were slightly burnt and super oily. The salmon was also overcooked so it was dry and had super fishy taste to it. Would definitely not travel out of my way to come here again.

Not one of the better Korean BBQ joints in the area. Stay in the Annandale area of VA or the Wheaton area of MD for the real deal. The food is OK, service is OK (food was a bit randomly brought to our table). Definitely stay clear of the lunch special as they do the cooking in the back and not at your table. Not sure I Would return as there are simply better Korean BBQ places in the area. Overall, it strikes me as a place for college kids who don't care much about quality, service, and value.

My wife and I were in town and happened onto this restaurant. It is a quaint family run restaurant with Korean fare cooked at the table. Our waiter was new and tried very hard to please us. All in all we were very happy with it all. It had a homey feel to it the food was excellent.

Our family ordered off the lunch menu. The dumpling appetizer came out with the food, so that was a little inconvenient, but overall we thought the food was tasty and worth the visit.

Ok, I'm not a picky eater. From gastropubs to fast food, if I'm hungry I'll gladly take anything. Which is why I was surprised when I came to Kangam BBQ, starving, and found the food entirely disappointing and unsatisfying. The Tofu Stew tasted like spicy, oily water. I then ordered some chicken bulgogi hoping to fill myself, and for a steep price, chicken that was marinaded in wayyy too much sugar and vinegar was placed on a grill and poked occasionally until it was totally DRY. Our server was entirely oblivious of us and other than intermittently drop by to cut the vegetables and chicken with scissors, did nothing. I thought he'd at least give me a plate for the chicken and tell me when it's done cooking and ready to eat, but supposedly even that was too much to ask for. I can deal with poor service if the food is good, and that was just not the case. The food was just lacking in any sort of depth or complexity and the service was nonexistent. The price was way too high for such poor quality of both food and service. Not recommended.

Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner. We decided to go with the buffet option with the suggestion of one of our servers. The food selections on the buffet trays were very limited and the quality was sub par. It looked and tasted like leftovers from lunch. To my surprise, the servers were not the typical older Korean women you usually see at a Korean BBQ restaurant. Instead, they were just inexperienced college students. I don't know if they are trying to go for a more Americanized approach but it really takes away from the authenticity of a true Korean BBQ experience. They also had A1 sauce, tabasco, sriracha, and ketchup on the table which really confused the hell out of me because no one uses those condiments with Korean food. With the buffet option, you can choose a meat from a sheet of paper and they bring it out for you one serving at a time. They also have the servers grill the meat for you. Our server had absolutely no idea how to cook the meat and out of frustration my mother demanded to cook it herself. The meat quality was also sub par and it was probably the worst chadolbaegi I've ever had and the spicy samgyupsal was mediocre. Service was whatever, we had to get up and find our server to request for more food. If you aren't Korean or aren't familiar with real Korean BBQ restaurants, I can see how/why this place will be appealing but if you are and have then you will be utterly disappointed. I know this place is fairly new and I can see potential but I was not impressed and would not recommend my friends to come here. The prices are also unreasonably too high for such bad quality.

My first experience with Korean BBQ and I was not disappointed. The server was new and needed help answering our rookie questions. I can be a picky eater but the server was able to help make choices that would work for us. If you've never had Korean BBQ then save your pennies and check this place out. I can't say if it's better or worse than other Korean BBQ but I can say it was a fun experience!!

I'm Koren so I'm particular of Korean BBQ. This place is good. It's cozy. The food is good the service is great and the prices are reasonable. They just opened so I look forward to returning and watching the menu grow.

Me and my brother have lived in College park for over 20 years and was very excited that a kbbq has opened 5 mins away from home. We decided to give it a try. We both ordered the dinner buffet which was $22 /person. We were both extremely dissapointed. The spicy pork belly was dry and had no sauce. We had to pay $2 extra for a small portion of beef bulgogi. Another $2 for a small portion of beef brisket. We were so disgusted with the quality of the food that we did not even finished our meal. We paid and still left a good tip because it wasn't the waitresses fault that the place is poorly ran and overpriced. We will probably never come back. Honey pig and numerous other places are worth the 45 min drive compared to this place. We both said that this place will not last long.

My girlfriend and I have been waiting so long for this place to open and we were so excited to eat here. Overall, we had a good experience. We went with another friend and order an appetizer of steamed dumplings along with three bbq meats: bulgogi, marinated pork belly, and pork bulgogi. We also ordered drinks. Drinks: The beer is pretty cheap and there is a decent variety. My friend and I wanted to be adventurous and try the Korean drinks. I had Soju which our waiter had a difficult time describing to me. I asked him if it was similar to sake he said yes. It is not really similar to sake. It is more like vodka but sweeter and smoother. I did not mind it just not what I expected. My friend got the Bohae which is a Korean raspberry wine. It was sweet and I liked it better than the Soju. I would likely get that next time. More of a description of the Korean drinks on the menu (and informed waiters) would be helpful. Food: The food overall was good. The steamed dumplings were delicious and you get 10 of them. The meat came with little side dishes traditional to Korean BBQ such as salad with ginger/miso dressing, an apple/potato type salad with mayo, stews, daikon, something crunchy in soy sauce (apple maybe?), fish cake etc. The side dishes were kind of bland which disappointed me. I am use to receiving really bold/strong kimchi which I love but did not receive here. The stews were very good and I did appreciate the amount of side dishes we received. The beef bulgogi was good but we all felt the meat was not as fatty as bulgogi we have had at other restaurants and it dried out quickly on the grill. The marinated pork belly was very good. I was happy with the quality of the pork belly and the marinade was tasty but not spicy like I expected. We thought the pork bulgogi was actually better than the beef. The sauce on the pork bulgogi was really good as well. The price of the meat dishes are high compared to other Korean BBQ but the portions are very generous. We ended up with a lot of food. I also missed the corn and barley tea that you often receive at Korean BBQ. I love that tea and was hoping they had it but they did not even seem to have it to order. We did get a few grapes and two very small pieces of cantaloupe at the end of the meal but I can't complain about that since I was very full. Our waiter was attentive and nice but seemed very nervous. He let the meat cook a little too long on the grill (or had the temp too high) and the meat became more cooked than what we would have liked. He also put the container to collect the meat juices on the side of the grill wrong and juices got all over the table. He turned off the grill before the rest of the veggies cooked through. I venture to guess he is new and getting the hang of the job. I did appreciate that we were not chased out of the restaurant as soon as e paid for the check. We got caught up talking and did not feel pressured to leave. For a new restaurant our experience was good. We will definitely be back to try it out again. It seems there are still things that the owners are working out. I just saw on their facebook they are going to start an all you can eat buffet which sounds like it will be delicious and more cost effective for the customer.

Happened upon the place on the night of their soft opening. Ordered bulgogi (beef) & a seasoned pork BBQ. Our waitress cooked it for us at the table. Meat was very good accompanied by a few veggies. Not much of the usual Korean array of side dishes, though; only kimchi and pickled radish slices. The meal came with a bowl of miso soup for each person and a large communal salad, the usual iceberg and a few veggies salad with ginger-miso dressing and weirdly enough, topped with shredded chicken. Service was pretty good, minus a few kinks they should be working out with better training in a few days. At the end of the meal we were served tiny bowls of cold ginger-cinnamon tea (sweetish) and a couple pieces of avocado roll. Sushi is not on the menu, probably a good thing for now because the rice was seasoned with too much rice vinegar. All in all, good BBQ and a welcome addition to College Park Rte. 1 scene. A bit removed from UMD to be considered an easy walking distance but maybe the walk would do you some good after the meal.

To be accurate, I would say 4.5 stars. It's only because some of banchans (side dishes) didn't taste as good. I had a lunch menu today which was Chicken Bulgogi and it was great. Also, they come out with salad, miso soup, steamed egg, kimchi, and 4 other side dishes. These were all for $8. As a Korean, I've been to many Korean restaurants around here including Annandale, and this restaurant is definitely in top 5 for me. I mean it doesn't taste 100% authentic but it's pretty close. The server was nice, food was nice and all. Would I go back? Oh yes.

Went for the lunch buffet. There are four prices, depending on whether you want sushi and/or bbq. Banchan is much improved from last time. Dumplings were standard. Two kinds of seafood pancake were a nice change, although they were a bit greasy from sitting out. Pork was...bland. In fact, most of the food was bland. I understand that not all Korean food should punch you in the face, but items that look spicy should actually be spicy. Maybe they're catering to an American palate more than the places in Beltsville, but most items seem lacking in flavor when I compare them. You will like this place if: You are new to Korean food, you want large amounts of food for a set price You will not like this place if: You are a strict vegetarian, you already have a favorite Korean restaurant

Ordered a seafood pancake with friends last night there. We did not finish the whole pancake and brought it home. The next when we heat it up for the lunch, we found paper tissues inside the pancake. It's definitely not turning my appetite on!

My wife and I were in town and happened onto this restaurant. It is a quaint family run restaurant with Korean fare cooked at the table. Our waiter was new and tried very hard to please us. All in all we were very happy with it all. It had a homey feel to it the food was excellent.

korean bbq and sports bar and grill is a weird combination.

Did not know what to expect but, decide to give the new place a chance. The service and food were good. Like the food was cooked in the center of the table. Would have been nice to have a cocktail with dinner, but could only have beer due to that was the license they had. Knowing how the College Park government works (against places that sell alcohol), I was surprised they allowed them a license to sell beer.

when we entered the front building the atmosphere looked really clean.

So happy to have this restaurant in town. No need to go all the way down to Annandale to have Korean food!

A bit too pricey for the meat and service, but definitely worth a visit back. Not at the top of my list though.

I like the service. And it caters to my inner hipster (craft beer on tap). The beef bulgogi is the best thing on the menu. And the buffet is pretty damn good. No, it's not the best Korean bbq ever. But the place is clean, convenient, and the buffet is a great value.
